New website online
How do you summarise a book of 4kg and hundreds of pages in a website? The publication about the Gemini Wind Park was published on the occasion of the opening in May 2017. From around the world, however, questions are asked about how the development and the realisation took shape. In this respect, Gemini is a real 'example project’.
There is also a lot of interest from the education sector. Reason enough to thoroughly renew the Gemini website. This now contains a comprehensive overview of how the wind park came into being.
Take a look at www.geminiwindpark.nl.
Gemini and the University of Amsterdam
Lesser black-headed gull research
The location in the middle of the North Sea means that environmental monitoring is very high on the agenda at Gemini. Both during the construction and during the operation of the wind park. Luuk Folkerts of Gemini is closely involved in this. There is intensive collaboration with research agencies and universities. Read the interview that Luuk gave for the website of the University of Amsterdam here. Research is being conducted with the UvA-IBED Theoretical and Computational Ecology research group into the behaviour of small black-backed gull colonies in the area.

New shareholder
ALTE LEIPZIGER/HALLESCHE
On 24 April, wpd invest announced the acquisition of the 10% share that Van Oord had in Gemini, through a Luxembourg investment vehicle, advised by wpd invest. The investment vehicle has been set up for ALTE LEIPZIGER Lebensversicherung a.G and HALLESCHE Krankenversicherung a.G. “We are very happy to be working with such strong players in the offshore wind industry in such a prominent project”, says Georg Obert, Managing Director of wpd invest. "This investment was made only a few weeks after we signed our first special offshore wind energy agreement with institutional investors, who committed to invest a large amount of 3 billion euros in offshore wind in European waters. Our investors focus on maintaining these projects during their total lifespan, because they form a good match with their commitment profile.
We are confident that the years of industry knowledge of our parent group, combined with our strong investor base, will enable us to provide security and speed in every future process, just as it did for Gemini."
With the accession of ALTE LEIPZIGER /HALLESCHE,
the board of Gemini has also changed its composition.
This currently comprises:
NPI Paul Bradley and Troy Patton
Siemens Stephan Schaller and Florian Voss
HVC Arjan ten Elshof
